A Unique Lego-Themed Wedding at Fort Nelson, Portsmouth: Capturing Helen and Mike’s Hampshire Wedding.

When Helen and Mike tied the knot at Fort Nelson in Portsmouth, it was a day like no other. Their wedding brought together two passions—Lego and their shared military background—creating a celebration as unique as their love story. As a wedding photographer, capturing the vibrant details and heartfelt moments of this Lego-themed wedding was an absolute joy.

The Venue – Fort Nelson, Portsmouth

Fort Nelson is one of the best surviving examples of a 19th-century Victorian fort. This historic military fortress overlooks Portsmouth, provided a stunning backdrop for Helen and Mike’s big day. With its dramatic architecture, sweeping views of the Solent, and rich military history, the venue was the perfect choice for a couple with strong ties to the armed forces.

On the day guests were piped into the venue by the incredibly talented James which only added to the granduer of the occasion. the contrast between the timeless grandeur of the venue and the playful pops of Lego-themed decor set the tone for a truly special wedding.

Love and Lego

Helen and Mike’s creativity and shared passion for Lego shone through every element of their wedding. From a Lego bouquet (much heavier than usual flowers), to a Lego bride and groom atop their edible cake and even a cake made entirely of Lego bricks, in which guests were encouraged to guess the number of bricks to win a prize! Every detail was a celebration of their fun and quirky personalities.

Artillery Museums and Weddings aren’t too common…

This is probably one of the many reasons I enjoyed the venue so much, becasue it was so different. It instantly ticked the ‘Unique Wedding Venue’ box. Let’s face it, there’s not many weddings that host a welcoming reception surrounded by massive artillery guns!

The reception was held in one of Fort Nelson’s charming event spaces, where the Lego theme truly came to life. Vibrant Lego brick decor adorned the tables, and even the wedding favors included custom made lego keyrings.

Helen and Mike’s Lego-themed wedding at Fort Nelson was a celebration of love, creativity, and shared passions. It was an honor to capture every detail and emotion of their big day, and I’m so grateful to have been part of such a unique and meaningful celebration.

If you’re planning a wedding at Fort Nelson or have a creative theme in mind, I’d love to help capture your special day. Let’s create memories that last a lifetime!
